he Galloway Highlanders Pipes and Drums was formed in 1994 by Albert Rowe, when he and a group of students
sitting around his kitchen table decided to share their love of piping with the community.  Albert has been playing the pipes
since
age 11 and has played with numerous pipe bands throughout the Boston area before moving to Utah in 1974.  The
Rowe
family has been at the core of the GHP&D since it was founded, with three generations of talent to come through the
band.

atterned after the Black Watch, the pipers wear the Royal Stewart tartan, while the drummers wear the tartan of the
Black Watch.  The band performs throughout the inter mountain region at various events and highland games as a
member of the Western United States Pipe Band Association.  The GHP&D has also toured numerous times to the Boston
area
and the Intermountain west.

ince the band began it has played for many dignitaries such as, former British Prime Minister Margret Thacher
during her visit to Utah for the UK-Utah Celebration.  Band members come from all parts of the Wasatch Front, from
Ogden to the north, to Salt Lake on the south.  The band is always looking for new, energetic members to join
this award wining group.  All experience levels are welcomed for both piping and drumming.  Please feel free to
